John Joy and Lonnie Test founded APG in 1994. Both John and Lonnie formerly worked for Storage Technology Cop. In August 1997, APG acquired FDI Test Solutions of Boise Idaho in a stock exchange. FDI was APG's preferred fixture provider and the two companies had worked closely since 1994. Frank Dodge who previously worked for Hewlett Packard also founded FDI in 1994. After the acquisition, FDI moved it's entire operations from Boise to Colorado. The new combined entity moved into a state of the art fixturing and programming facility in Longmont which is located in the heart of Colorado's high tech community. The new company is rapidly growing its high quality fixturing and programming services worldwide.
APG's central location within in the Unites States allows it to service customs efficiently nationwide and throughout the world. The Denver area is one of he nations leading communications and travel hubs. Most areas in the States can be reached by direct flights less than two hours in duration. Over night shipping and emergency counter to counter deliveries are easily accomplished. APG is located only fifteen miles from Hewlett-Packards Manufacturing Test division (MTD) in Loveland. The home, birthplace and central focus of all activities concerning the HP3070 test platform. This affords APG unique opportunities for combined R&D efforts with Hewlett-Packard and a close working relationships with MTD staff. APG is currently a beta site for the new B300 series HP3070 software and was the recipient of the 1997 MTD Channel Partner of the year award.
APG currently has approximately 30 employees including seven HP3070 Test Engineers and five fixture designers. APG's work comprises mostly of highly complex fixturing and programming projects. The engineering staff at APG have a great deal of experience in the advanced HP3070 test features especially Boundary Scan and ISP.
APG has an HP3070 in-house that is used for fixture verification as well as test program debug. The testhead contains three
double density modules (0,2,3). APG also has two advanced CNC drills / routers and a full service machine shop capable of manufacturing all components used in today's complex fixturing. In addition to this APG has, two semi-automated
wire-wrap machines and a flying lead fixture verifier. All fixtures leaving the facility are QC'ed on the testhead using the test program files pins, shorts and testjet. APG continues to enjoy
success and adulation for its pioneering work on boardless fixturing and rapid prototype test strategies. APG's fixturing operations consistently provides five working day turns on fixtures.
